KASHMIR SHAIVA INSTITUTE

Kashmir Shaiva Institute was founded by Shaivacharya Lakshmanjoo Maharaj in 1969 in Guptganga, Nishat, Srinagar, Kashmir . Maharaja Karan Singh ji, provided a Lecture Hall in Ancient Guptganga Temple premises to preach and propagate Kashmir Shaiva Philosophy to the aspirants .

According to Gurudev “Kashmir Shaivism is basically an inquiry into the truth of human experience ” .

Shaivacharya Lakshmanjoo Maharaj himself conducted regular classes on Kashmir Shaivism for various Indian and western Scholars and for his devotees on weekdays and Sundays for almost 2 decades at Ishber,Nishat Ashram and Gupta ganga, Srinagar.

Gurudev was instrumental in revival of Kashmir Shaivism in 20th Century in Kashmir and across the globe. It was earnest desire of Gurudev to spread the teachings of Ancient Kashmir Shaiva Philosophy in a formal way to all individuals having keen interest in this Philosophy

In the last 5 years several workshops and seminars on Kashmir Shaivism were conducted under the banner of Kashmir Shaiva Institute to review the Institute .

Following the Vision of Gurudev in 2021 it was decided that Kashmir Shaiva Institute be revived formally and registered as a Trust to propagate ancient Kashmir Shaiva Education in a formal way .

Kashmir Shaiva Institute has a vision to initially commence online courses on Non Dual Kashmir Shaiva Philosphy ,Online Sanskrit learning courses and gradually Establish a campus of excellence in Jammu & Kashmir Region with School,college and Institute for Kashmir Shaivism for Education and Research,.

In addition to Grant certificates /Diplomas/ Scholarships and Vocational Training to women & Hostels .

 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE TRUST

i. To carry forward the mission of Ishwar Swaroop Swami Lakshmanjoo Maharaj to promulgate the sacred and ancient philosophy Kashmir Shaivism through education, research, publications, preservation of existing and search of new manuscripts, teachings, lectures and other suitable means.

ii. To Establish and set up Education Institutes of excellence for promulgation, preservation, procurement and research of/on ancient Kashmir Shaiva philosophy in particular and other Indian Philosophies and other disciplines in Jammu and/or any other part of India.

iii. To collate and disseminate ancient knowledge and wisdom of all ancient vedic Philosophies, in general and in particular with respect to non-dual philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism.

iv. To set up educational institutes in form of Schools, colleges and other institutions of learning , research centres, libraries with or without Residential facilities in Jammu and/or any other part of India.

v. To set up Residential Hostels for members/researchers/aspirants of non dual philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism and students seeking proficiency in Sanskrit, numerology,astrology, ………. and other specified languages in Jammu and/or any other Parts of India.

vi. To Affiliate/associate with any other University/college /School/Institute of repute authority or Association or any other public or private body having in view the promotion of purposes and objects similar to those of the Institute or for such purposes as may be agreed upon, on such terms and conditions as may from time to time, be prescribed..

vii. To set up research centres & other such facilities furnished and equipped with technical support so that scholars, teachers, researchers and others interested in pursuing Ishwar Swaroop Swami Lakshman Joo’s teachings of Kashmir Shiva philosophy are able to hold conferences, discussions, study circles, workshops, contact programmes, lectures, discourses etc.at all times.

viii. To envisage and plan the task aforesaid involve Scholars, Academicians and Research experts to seek benefit of their professional expertise and to institute awards, fellowships, scholorships, exhibitions and prizes with a view to promote the basis objectives of the trust.

ix. To hold examinations and grant diplomas or certificates and confer degrees, certificates and other academic distinctions on, persons or other academic distinctions for good and sufficient cause.

x. To give scholarships to deserving poor students for attainment of knowledge and research work and to organise lecture series, study tours, on-line courses,distance learning/vocational education courses and other similar activities.

xi. To take up the publication of Ishwar Swaroop Swami Lakshmanjoo’s works with commentaries and interpretations on Kashmir Shaivism and to set up Museums for protection and preservation of ancient Kashmir Shaiva Philosophy and other Indian languages.

xii. To provide for the Printing, reproduction and publication of research and other work on Kashmir Shaivism by Ishwar Swaroop Swami Lakhman Joo and other saints/luminairies in Kashmir Shaivism and other related fields.

xiii. To spread and promote literacy amongst destitute, poor and backward classes and help in their Upliftment, vocational training of their women folk and improvement of their status.

xiv. To hold, acquire or dispose of land and property both movable and immovable to achieve the objects of the Trust.

xv. To receive, accept, collect and otherwise come into possession of cash, securities, movable and immovable properties, valuables gold, silver and jewellery, idols, books, manuscripts by way of donations ,charities, gifts, contributions, grants and any other manner and to utilize such proceeds or earnings from out of such valuables for the objects of the Trust

xvi. To open and maintain hold/operate savings and current bank accounts, term deposits with Govt and/or private sector banks and to authorize Trustees to operate such accounts and to authorize the Board of Trustees to operate such accounts.

xvii. Any other main/ancillary object which the trustees deem worthy in consonance with the objectives of the trust
